Pro Bono Work and Community Involvement
State, federal, and local bar associations encourage qualified attorneys to allocate a percentage of their time to people who cannot afford quality legal counsel, to the judiciary, and to the betterment of the legal field. At the Law Offices of William D. Shapiro we enjoy our involvement in these efforts. Over the last 20 years we have had the privilege of serving our community in a wide range of activities.
Legal Aid
An active participant in the San Bernardino County Bar Association's Legal Aid Program, Mr. Shapiro provides important legal counsel to those in need at the Legal Aid office. In addition to donated time and money, Mr. Shapiro serves as an executive board member of the Legal Aid Society. He has received a variety of awards recognizing his contributions to the community.
Judicial Service
William D. Shapiro served for many years as Judge Pro Tem. In that role he presided over trials, settlement conferences, and hearings for both the Municipal and Superior Courts. Since California implemented the arbitration system, Mr. Shapiro has presided over hundreds of judicial arbitrations. He also served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee of the San Bernardino County Bar which provides recommendations to the courts regarding the administration of the arbitration program.
Instruction / Lecture
Our firm founder is also an active legal instructor. Mr. Shapiro lectures within the legal community and participates in programs and local efforts that raise awareness of legal issues to the community. He has instructed law students and lawyers as an Associate Professor of Products Liability, Torts, and Legal Ethics at the Western State University College of Law. He also lectures extensively for various bar association conferences and CLE sessions.
In addition to the donated efforts identified above, Mr. Shapiro, devotes time directly to the community by speaking to students at local public schools and service organizations.
Committees

Charities
The Law Offices of William D. Shapiro makes direct financial contributions to the following charities: San Bernardino Police, children's groups, underprivileged kids programs, Pop Warner Football, A.Y.S.O. youth soccer, youth little league, sponsorship of youth baseball, basketball, football and soccer teams. In addition to these donations, Mr. Shapiro has been the proud coach of many youth sports teams and remains an active supporter of youth sports and activities in our community.
